Shocker as 3 samoosas cost over R200 at local supermarket

A trip to De Franca’s Spar for a mother buying her normal groceries ended in a shocking surprise when she got home and was unpacking her groceries.

While at the till, she didn’t take note of how much she had paid… It seemed high, but she still thought nothing of it. She lamented the fact that the price of everything was going up.

So while she was unpacking her groceries at home, her daughter happened to spot the samoosas. “When she asked me if I had really paid R219 for 3 cheese and corn samoosas, I thought she was joking. She showed me the packet and my heart sank.

“I then went through the slip with her and we spotted a total of R219.56 for 3 samoosas in plain sight in the R682.67 total slip.”

Spar management apologised for the mistake and refunded her the money when she returned and complained at the store. They attributed the mistake to human error at the deli.

“People must be warned to check their slips before simply walking out of a store. If my daughter had not spotted the mistake, I would have lost the money. I assumed because they were scanning barcodes at the till, it could not make mistakes. Thanks to my daughter, I now know different,” she told the Ladysmith Gazette.
