Insult to injury as municipality robs us after our homes are damaged

Editor – Re: Storm damaged and heartbroken.

The devastating storm of December 9, 2012, left many homes damaged in Ladysmith and surrounding areas. Thousands of people had no food, clothing or a house to go back to.

Government, in the form of the Disaster Fund, issued our then Emnambithi/Ladysmith Municipality (now Alfred Duma Local Municipality) with millions of rands to rebuild the houses of those affected.

Up until today, having been affected by another storm, we have not received any help from the above-mentioned municipality. So I ask: Who among you, the powers that be, have pocketed the money?

I and most of the community who were affected are still waiting for our houses to be repaired.
