Local student achieves 6 distinctions

An ecstatic Simphiwe takes a big jump into his future.

Simphiwe Sithebe, a 2016 Grade 12 pupil at Dr Joseph Shabalala Secondary School, is a testament to the saying “hard work and dedication pays off” after managing to obtain a whopping six distinctions in his final matric examinations.

The local matriculant, residing in Peacetown, scored A symbols in Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, Geography, Life Orientation and English, with a B symbol for isiZulu.

“As I have obtained these distinctions, my wish is to further my studies and create a better future for myself and my family through studying Chemical Engineering,” says Simphiwe.

Dr Joseph Shabalala Secondary School managed a 93% matric pass rate, which saw the aspiring chemical engineer taking first spot academically at the school.

Simphiwe has been accepted at UCT (University of Cape Town). However, he now faces financial problems, as he is R40,000 short of the amount required for registration.

“I would like to call upon all people and businessmen of our town to please help me raise the funds required for my registration to secure a spot at UCT. My family faces financial strain to pay for all my fees and this fund-raising would go a long way to ease the financial stress and help me build a better future,” is Simphiwe’s plea.

Simphiwe is a hardworking and dedicated individual who wants to craft his future in the best way possible. If anyone wishes to make a donation, they can contact him on 0742041867 for further details.
