Update: Municipality attempts to cut resident’s water again in Ladysmith

A woman in Pretorius Road, who claims she had to endure dry taps recently due to no fault of her own, almost had to suffer the same ordeal all over again as municipal workers attempted to cut her water supply for the second time.

Fortunately this time, Mrs Cloete was at home when the municipal workers arrived to disconnect her water.

“I stopped them from cutting off my water supply, as they again had addresses mixed up,” said the unhappy resident.

Mrs Cloete lives in Pretorius Road, but the disconnection letter she received was supposed to go to an address in Diamana Road; the same address she says they had previously mistaken hers with.

The bill had escalated to more than R31,000 worth of water, but she refused to accept it, as she says she has paid in full and the disconnection letter was not addressed to her.

“This is seriously getting out of hand and I cannot take it anymore,” laments Mrs Cloete.

She wants answers from the municipality as to how this could have happened, twice!
