Help police trace suspects in Ladysmith

The Ladysmith Family Violence, Child Protection & Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) is seeking the assistance of the community in identifying and locating the people in the attached images.

On January 16, a scholar from the Besters area was accosted by an unknown man while on her way to school. He attempted to rape the girl, but when her cell-phone fell to the ground during the struggle, he reached for the phone.

The girl took this opportunity to quickly escape from her attacker.

The suspect is described as being in his mid-20s and about 1.65m tall. He has a light complexion and a slender build.

During the early part of December last year, a seven-year-old girl was playing in the yard of her home in the Tsakane area of Steadville when an unknown man approached the yard and requested the child to assist him. The child obliged and went out of the yard. She was raped in the bush close to her house.

The rapist is described as being in his mid-20s and about 1.65m tall. He has a slender build and a dark complexion.

On the evening of March 22 this year, a woman was walking in Kandahar Avenue, near the sports ground, when she was suddenly accosted by a man brandishing a knife. She was forced into the bush, where she was raped.

The suspect is described as being in his early 30s and about 1.65m tall. He has a dark complexion and a medium build.

During June this year, a woman was returning home in the Steadville area when she realised she was being followed by an unknown man. In a secluded area, he assaulted and raped her, after which he also stole her cell-phones.

The man is described as being in his early 20s with a dark complexion. He is about 1.75m tall with a slender build.

Anyone who can assist police in identifying any of the individuals depicted in these images, or may know of their whereabouts, is requested to contact the investigating officer, Constable NR Mazibuko, from the Ladysmith FCS Unit.
