Sewage flows into Ladysmith kennels

Annamarie Koen from the Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL) is furious after sewage poured into their premises for days. She says this is an ongoing problem at the kennels.

What is sad is that two dogs died due to disease, and two kittens drowned in the sewer water.

According to Annamarie, raw effluent flowed into the grounds, forcing her to move the dogs from the bigger enclosures into small cages because of all the sewer water.

She contacted uThukela, who have sent workers to the kennels about eight times. However, till now, the problem persists.

“The smell was terrible and I couldn’t even take in any boarder dogs due to lack of enclosures for them. We are so tired of living like this, as our animals have to bear with the terrible stench day and night,” fumed Annamarie.
