Ladysmith Secondary School strikes water underground

Question: Was it simple divine intervention or the unstinting generosity of the Abbas Ismail Asmal (Mota Asmal) family that led to Ladysmith Secondary (Lasec) having its very own borehole?

The answer is perfectly simple… It was, in fact, a combination of the two. This is what made Thursday, February 8, such a momentous occasion when the entire Lasec family gathered on the grounds to watch the first wave of underground water gush up to the skies, creating its own rainbow.

Mr AN Govender, who in his address elaborated on the concepts of hydrology and subterranean water, thanked our benefactors – the Mota Asmal family (the country’s pioneering borehole and hydrology experts) – for their humility, kindness and generosity.

It is envisaged that this project, spearheaded by Nazeeha Asmal and valued at around R100,000, will serve both Aloe Park Primary School and the residents in the vicinity.

May they, the Abbas Ismail Asmal family, be blessed for their compassion and generous acts of kindness.
