Massive storage containers lead to increased crime levels in Ladysmith?

Storage containers are popping up all around the residential area in Leonardsville.

Residents feel that the containers are a huge problem and have contacted IFP councillor L Bhoobun to try and get their issues resolved.

Residents told the councillor that the containers are being used as business premises and that illegal activities are taking place.

“I have seen people going into these containers to buy drugs and also for prostitution,” claims Cllr Bhoobun.

She also says that during her time of living in the area, six containers have popped up and the rate of crime has picked up as well, with car batteries and house lights being stolen.

At the time of going to press, Alfred Duma Local Municipality had failed to comment on the matter.
