Matrics excel in 2016 examinations

Ladysmith High School (LHS) congratulates the class of 2016 on their excellent achievement of a 99.4% pass, while at the same time honouring all the educators who contributed to their entire school career. They especially thank the staff for the conscientious dedication with which they prepared these learners for the final NSC examination and their future.

Out of a total of 168 candidates who wrote the NSC examination, more than 200 subject distinctions were achieved. A total of 138 (82%) learners qualified for admission to a Bachelor’s degree. The school’s top achievers, with 7 A symbols each, were:

  1. GRACE SMYTHE (1st in District)
  2. KASHMIRA MAHADEW (2nd in District)
  3. KARISHMA RAMPERSADH (4th in District)

Dr Joseph Shabalala Secondary School managed a 93% matric pass rate.

Windsor Secondary School achieved an 85.63% pass rate in the 2016 NSC examination. The top academic learner is Mthokozisi Banda, who received 4 distinctions in IsiZulu, Mathematics, Life Orientation and Physical Sciences, as well as achieving the highest marks. He was followed very closely by Siyanda Mchunu with 6 distinctions in Physical Sciences, IsiZulu, Mathematics, Life Orientation, Accounting and Life Sciences.

Ladysmith Secondary School’s (Lasec) pass rate was 85.5%, with the top achiever being Amatullah Suluwale with 6 distinctions.
