New educator in town, passionate to educate the young ones

Hamilton Preparatory welcomes Mrs Kim Elworthy as a new educator at the school. She is a Grade 5 teacher who not only loves children, but is passionate about teaching and giving her learners the best education possible.

Mrs Elworthy was born in Pietermaritzburg and brought up in Winterton.

She moved to Ladysmith in the year 2000.

She schooled at Monument Primary School and matriculated at Ladysmith High School (LHS). She then applied to study teaching through Unisa.

Her teaching history started at Egerton Primary School, where she was an educator for nine years.

Mrs Elworthy is qualified, with Honours in Inclusive Education, and says she is determined every day to show her learners love and discipline.

Of interest is that Mrs Elworthy’s whole family is in teaching. Her mum is the owner of Edukidz in Ladysmith and her sister owns her very own school in Durban.

Mrs Elworthy has always been passionate about the ways in which children think and is forever exploring the best ways to reach out to them.

She is a people’s person who displays great empathy for those around her and is loved by all who know her.

“My dream and goal as a young girl was to become a teacher, as that was always my passion and dream,” says Mrs Elworthy.

“The staff and management, together with the learners, are magnificent and very friendly. I feel I have another family of my own. I really enjoy being involved in the education of young people and my aim is to have the children be conscious and active participants in the process,” adds Mrs Elworthy.
