Update: Emergency meeting to solve water cuts

Residents affected by the water cuts are holding an emergency meeting this evening (February 14) at Countdown Complex in Centenary Road, starting at 7pm.

This comes after hundreds of homes had their water supply cut for over 24 hours due to an electrical fault at the Ezakheni Bulk Plant.

In the latest alert message sent out by uThukela District Municipality to inform the community about the progress being made, they stress that it will take longer than expected to fix the damaged cables and switchgear.

According to residents, an uThukela vehicle with a loud hailer has been out announcing that water will be off for a couple of days.

uThukela spokesperson Jabulani Mkhonza stressed, “We are trying to sort out the situation and will update the community on progress made.”
