Warning: Protesters block Centenary Road with burning tyres and rocks

Protesters burning tyres in Centenary Road

Protesters have blocked Centenary Road and also Begonia Road in Acaciavale today (November 29).

It is believed that the protesters are from the area of the RDP houses near Centenary Road.

They say that their electricity has been cut off by the municipality, as they now have to pay rates after their homes were valued by the municipality.

They claim that the valuations were too high and thus they now qualify to pay rates.

Centenary Road is completely blocked off with burning tyres and rocks, and traffic is being diverted away from the scene.
