Warning: Reports on social media of a major shutdown in Ladysmith due to taxi ban

The Steadville road, which was blocked

Just like last night (January 7), yet another message has popped up on social media of a major economic shutdown in Ladysmith due to the banning of taxis in the Ladysmith area.

The message states that a major shutdown of the town’s economy will be put in place by protesters tomorrow (January 9).

The message, which is circulating in isiZulu, is in large writing and says: “OPERATION SHUTDOWN LADYSMITH ECONOMY”. The message also warns all major businesses and even petrol stations to close tomorrow, as they (protesters) are coming.

It goes on to state that no municipal service will work and that tomorrow, they will hit a high gear with their protest.
